Serial Connection and Arduino Compile

Postby cmualum » Fri Jun 19, 2015 11:11 pm

I am in the process of setting up the env for hacking the delta robot.
The instruction and kit are flawless. Great job!

Two Questions:
(1) What is the pin out of the serial port on the brain board?
I am trying to reuse my "USB console cable" from Adafruit which only has 4 pins (without CTS and RTS).

From Sparkfun doc, I can see that the TTL cable is arranged as follows:
GND | CTS | VCC | TXD | RXD | RTS
Question: which side is GND for the serial port? I could not find any label on the board.

(2) When compiling my own arduino code for the BrainBoard, what type of board (UNO?) I should
choose?

I think a little notes on this is very helpful to generate more interests in hacking the delta robot.'

Thanks.

Here's the pinout (at GitHub) of the serial for the board. For pin 1, we make the silk-screen a little fatter where pin 1 is.

Since you are using a four pin serial, you will likely have to press the reset button on the Brain board shortly after you start the upload process. The RTS is usually used on Arduino to trigger the reset state at the beginning of programming.

and here is the full schematic for reference:

For compiling Arduino, use setting: "Arduino Pro or Pro Mini (5V, 16MHz)"

Also, The full Eagle schematics are now up on GitHub!
